September 4, 2003 An extremely rare shot of the very first of the 82nd Airborne Division paratroopers on their way to a training jump in Northern Ireland. Note the very unusual camouflage on the then-new paratrooper helmets. This is most likely the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment. The 504th PIR was left in Italy when the remainder of the division deployed to Northern Ireland at the time this photo was taken in November 1942.
