106th AAA Automatic Weapons Battalion (Self-Propelled)

 
 

   The 106th AAA AW Battalion began WW II as the 106th Coast Artillery Battalion (AA) and was redesignated AAA in July 1944. They took part in Operation Torch (the invasion of North Africa) on November 8, 1942, battled in the Kasserine Pass, and moved on to Sicily on July 10, 1943, to Italy on June 19, 1944, and to Southern France on August 15, 1944. The battalion ended up in Germany at war's end.
