This boat team's LCVP is almost ready to land on Omaha. Other craft are beached at the waterline, and brush fires, started by
the naval artillery bombardment earlier that morning, are burning on the bluffs above the beach proper. The height of the
bluffs overlooking the beach in this photo gives a good sense of the advantage the German gunners had over the
assault troops landing below. Once the ramp dropped, the men of the 29th and 1st Divisions were totally exposed.
