SUGAR RATIONING (10 K)
A line forms to pick up one of the war's most rationed commodities, sugar. Beginning in 1942, every household was required to declare the amount of sugar which they had in their home and if that amount did not exceed two pounds per person, then they would receive a booklet containing ration stamps, each dated and authorizing the purchase of one pound of sugar. National sugar rationing did not end until June 1947. Photo courtesy National Archives and Records Administration (208-PU-91B-5). [ Click on the thumbnail to view a larger version. ]
