  • February 1944 — have to evacuate Blandford as it will be a hospital camp for the coming invasion.
  • February 13, 1944 — moved in convoy to Wales. Nearest town is Crickhowell, Dan-y-Parc is the camp. Cleaned the barracks and made ourselves comfortable.
  • February 15, 1944 — eight of us left for an air base for experimental purposes on radar, with Signal Corps men, 9th Air Support Command. Nice place. Had to live in tents and set up radar on a hill. Went to Salisbury quite a bit. Saw GCI set, very interesting. Saw fires from Jerry bombs in London. Flew right over our heads.
  • February 23, 1944 — packed up and went back to Dan-y-Parc. Assigned to old radar, beat up quite a bit, may be replaced soon. Heard we are on our way again, to Newcastle and old English radar positions, which sounds good.
  • March 5, 1944 — left Dan-y-Parc and arrived in Newcastle-on-Tyne.
