Dated December 12, 1945, this photo shows the car in which Patton was injured on December 9 (he died of his injuries on December 21). The original caption reads: "PFC Horace Woodring, Sturgis, KY, General George S. Patton's chauffeur, looks at the smashed-in front of the car in which the General met an accident early this week and was partially paralyzed as a result. PFC Woodring and the driver of the truck which crashed into the car have been sent back to their respective outfits with no disciplinary action becaue both drivers had excellent driving records."
