SCR-584 Radar in Action

An SCR-584 radar set on the edge of an Allied airfield near Etain, France, 1944. A by-product
of Anglo-American radar research, the "584" was first used in combat at Anzio in February
1944, where it played a key role in breaking up the Luftwaffe's concentrated air attacks on
the confined beachhead (photo reproduced courtesy Signal Corps).
