The World War II Photo of the Week for 15 January 2001

Children at Heart Infantrymen of the 1st Battalion, 410th Infantry Regiment of the 103rd Division go sleigh-riding with some French children in the Gubenhouse area of France. It's January 1945, after the Bulge, and these GIs show that when snow's on the ground, they're kids at heart. Visible in the upper is a ubiquitous Willys jeep and a sentry next to a typical French telephone pole and, just beyond them, a bridge. U. S. Army Signal Corps photo, from the Webmaster's collection.
