Sailors of the Sky
    A rare sequence of photos showing a flight of United States Navy blimps coming in for a landing at Moffett Field, Sunnyvale, California, sometime in the 1940s. Above pictures show the approach, and the photo below shows one blimp tethered by the nose at its anchor mast. The photos were taken by John W. Havens, Post Photographer at old Camp Kendric, Lakehurst, New Jersey, a photographer known for his many shots of lighter-than-air ships. Photos from the Webmaster's collection.
