The World War II Photo of the Week for 30 October 2000 Balloon Girls ...    Women's Air Force Weather Balloon observers during a predawn launch of an illuminated weather balloon. Note the very sophisicated reflex transit used to determine the balloon's altitude and direction of travel necessary to calculate wind speed and direction aloft.
