A flight of four F-4U Corsair fighters of Squadron VF-17 is pictured
over the Pacific. Noteworthy are the kill markings on each plane:
the No. 29 plane has 16, the No. 8 plane has two, the No. 3 plane
has four, and the No. 28 plane has one. The skull-and-crossbones
insignia on the nose of each aircraft is that of squadron VF-17
(aka the "Jolly Rogers"). More information on this photo
and the Jolly Rogers can be found here.
