An unidentified soldier clutching a rosary kneels before the
graves of several men killed in action. This undated photo
was originally captioned "That these dead shall not have died
in vain. We owe our 12,000,000 fighting men in this bitterest,
most tragic war of all times, unity of effort through a unity of
obligation with no onlookers in the grandstand seats." Each grave
is marked "UNIDENTIFIED" and labeled with a letter and a
number along with the date November 1, 1943.
