A German soldier lies in wait for Allied tanks with a late-model
Panzerschreck (aka "Tank Terror"). Believed to have been inspired
by the American bazooka, the Panzerschreck was a shoulder-
launched antitank weapon that was first deployed in 1943.
Like the bazooka, the Panzerschreck operated by firing a small
rocket through an open-ended tube using an electrical ignition
system. The weapon had a range of 500 feet and could
penetrate over 8 inches of armor.
