B-17 OVER MT. RAINIER

The eighth in a long line of four-engined Flying Fortresses developed
by the Boeing Company wings over majestic Mt. Rainier during a test
flight near Seattle, Washington. The plane [a B-17F with tail number
(4)-124523] was photographed on August 10, 1942. Soon, hundreds
of Forts would be delivered to England to wage the air war against
Germany. Acme Newsphoto, from the Webmaster's collection.
