Long-Range Strike

British News Wide World Wire photo, dated May 8, 1941

A British Royal Air Force Wellesley bomber flies over East Africa, where the RAF were carrying out long-range attacks against the Italians in Ethiopia from bases in Egypt (note the prominent drop tanks with extra fuel slung under the aircraft's belly for added range). The destination given in the original caption of this photo was Cheren, where the British were dislodging the Italian occupation forces from their strongholds.
