A Polish girl looks over an expanse of the destroyed Warsaw ghetto nearly a year after the end of the war in Europe. This is one of a series of photographs taken by several combat photographers of this particular girl and the ruins of Warsaw. In the original caption, a reference is made to the fact that an estimated 50,000 bodies lay under the field of rubble.
