Victory Snip

uncredited photo

This unique morale postcard shows a pair of open scissors, shaped like a "V for Victory," about to snip off the heads of the three Axis leaders: Mussolini of Italy, Tojo of Japan, and Hitler of Germany. The hand holding the shears is labeled the "United Nations," representing the Allied coalition fighting the Axis powers. Individual fingers are labeled "England," "Russia," "America," "Netherlands," etc. The scissors seem to be labeled "Made in USA," indicating that the artist, at least, believes that the machinery of victory has been forged in America, by the massive contribution of American industrial power. The message is that it will take effort by all of the Allied powers to win the war.
