Havoc Over the Channel
410th Bomb Group photo, dated 1944

An A-20 Havoc in D-Day livery (the alternating black and white stripes on the wings and fuselage) passes over an Allied ship in the English Channel. The plane belonged to the 410th Bomb Group, which flew many missions in Normandy against pinpoint-type targets, where precision bombing was required, as opposed to area, or carpet, bombing.
