U.S. Army engineers, guarded by alert riflemen, are shown during construction of a 680-foot-long pontoon bridge during 3rd Army maneuvers near Camp Beauregard, Louisiana. The bridge, at the time, was thought to be the longest of its type ever attempted by the engineers.
