The Belle Heads Back

The B-17 Flying Fortress The Memphis Belle is shown on her way back to the United States on June 9, 1943, after successfully completing 25 missions over Europe. All crew members of the Belle, piloted by Robert Morgan, hold the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal. In all of its missions during World War II, the crew sustained only one injury, a leg wound to the tail gunner.
