| Brits Across the Rhine |
Associated Press photo, dated March 26, 1945
|
Their successful landing on the east bank of the Rhine completed, these
British commandos rest before advancing to support other British troops at Wesel. Note the amphibious "buffalo" landing craft on the shoreline that ferried the troops across the river. Note also that the unit flashes have been censored from the sleeves of many of the troops prior to distribution. Some arches are visible, but not readable. The slight graininess in the photograph is a result of front-line radio transmission.
