Kamikaze Watch ...

A pair of alert antiaircraft gun teams are shown manning their huge water-cooled .50-caliber machine guns aboard an unspecified U.S. Navy aircraft carrier. Note the foam from fire suppression chemicals on the guns, deck, and men. Dated April 30, 1942, this photo is unusual in that the 1942 period caption references a suicide bomber attack on the carrier — kamikaze attacks are generally have thought to have occurred only much later in the war.
