|Lena Horne Takes On the Japs ...|
Surrounded by a veteran crew of Marines who have spent 15 months in the Southwest and Central Pacific, this 90mm gun, named "Lena Horne" by its crew, points majestically skyward on Eniwetok in 1945. The gun is manned by members of the 51st Defense Batallion, one of two such all-Negro units in the Marine Corps (find out more about the 51st here).
