Web-Footed Craft ...

Amphibious DUKWs (aka "Ducks") are shown heading for the Normandy beaches on June 9, 1944, three days after the Allied assault on Hitler's Atlantic Wall. The original caption states "Wading through choppy English Channel waters toward the French coast, these amphibious ducks, loaded with men and supplies, are bringing the Allied invading forces closer to France." Note the battleship at center (the white "blob") was censored out by the U.S. Navy — it is most likely a command ship with a complex antenna array for communicating with the invasion fleet.
