Heavy Artillery ... These four U.S Army Signal Corps photos show American heavy guns deployed in the jungle on either New Georgia or Munda Island. Above, two views of a 155-mm howitzer being loaded for firing (in the lower image, note the pierced steel plank panels supporting the wheels on the soft ground). Below, a 155 elevated prior to shelling the enemy. Further below, another 155 concealed under camouflage netting.
