Overloaded Jug ... Three 1000-pound bombs are being fitted to a 1st Air Commando Republic P-47D (Evansville model) Thunderbolt fighter-bomber somewhere in the China-Burma-India Theater of Operations. Note the six .50-caliber machine guns (three to a wing) with their muzzles taped. This plane is overloaded as the rated bombload capacity was 2,500 pounds. Photo dated March 24, 1945. |
