The World War II Photo of the Week for 12 August 2002

Engine Rags ... Members of the 366th Fighter Squadron (left to right: Maj. Bell, Sgt. Conn, Col. Tipton, and Sgt. Ross) examine a captured Nazi banner. It was a gift from the 45th Infantry Division, who liberated it from the Nuremburg Stadium and presented it the "Orange Tails," advising them "to use it for engine rags or some other useful purpose." Photo reprinted from the Harold A. Jones Collection.
