The World War II Photo of the Week for 20 October 2003

Ace Rug Cutter ... Crowds in New York City's Pennsylvania Station on the morning of September 12, 1944 were treated to an impromptu show when Peggy Ryan (right), one of Hollywood's leading dancers, strutted her stuff with Navy Machinist Mate 2nd Class Bob Hamilton of Indianapolis, Indiana. Peggy, who was vacationing, couldn't resist swing-timin' it with "Sailor Bob" to the accompaniment of a "squeeze box" and an audience of several hundred other swabbies. |
