Rarin' to Fight ...

With bunting on her bow, the USS Atule (SS-403) is launched on March 6, 1944 at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. The 311-foot-long Atule was in the Balao series of the Gato/Balao class, and she received four battle stars for action in the Pacific. She sunk six Japanese ships, including a destroyer. Her combat history is available at Dictionary of American Naval Fighting Ships, and a web site devoted to her can be found here.
