Dividing A Nation ... In a government building in Bialystok, Poland, on September 21, 1939, German and Soviet Army officers divide the conquered Poland into two sections on paper. Russia seemed to have gotten the best of the deal by grabbing off almost two-thirds of Poland's area, but another partitioning agreed upon seven days later gave Germany more and moved the demaraction line which first ran through Warsaw to the Bug River.
