Remember what it
was like back in the Summer of '45 before you went back home? The war was
over and you'd made it! You'd crossed Bloody Omaha and fought across
Brittany and then back through Northern France. You spent a rainy, muddy
winter in Belgium, and in the Spring you crossed the Rhine. And, then,
suddenly, the war was over. Bavaria was bright and sunny and all the
planes that flew overhead were friendlies. Can you still hear the bells of
the Munich S-bahn ringing as the train pulled up to take everyone
downtown? Can you still taste the cold beer and hear the oom-pah music?
When you close your eyes, can you hear those familiar notes of Lilli
Marlene floating on the warm breeze. Maybe you wish you had taken a
few more snapshots during those days. It's getting harder to remember
things. Can you match the names to the faces you're picturing in your
mind? Don't you know that guy ... was he at Camp Twenty Grand? He
still owes me a pack of Luckys!
Well,
you can relive those memories this Fall at the 225th's Annual Reunion! Now
in its seventh big year and promising to be bigger than ever.
