The fabled Cunard liner RMS Queen Mary ferried thousands of U. S. troops across the Atlantic to England during World War II, often a division (15,000 or more men plus their equipment) at a time. From 23 to 29 December 1943, the 225th AAA Searchlight Battalion sailed from New York City to Gourock, Scotland on The Queen. Former members have fond memories of the ship, which we hope to include here eventually. Initially, however, we plan to chronicle the history of the ship, with emphasis on her World War II years.
